— Children received medicines, other medical supplies and underwent examinations at a total cost of $74,589. This support is critical in the context of war and the resulting impoverishment of the population. We help children to have everything they need for recovery when the cost of treatment is unaffordable for the family.
— Six hospitals received medicines and supplies worth $40,542. We increase the capacity of children’s oncology departments and provide them with medicines and supplies that are not funded by the state or whose supply is delayed.
— In August, 103 doctors attended educational events, learned English, and received financial support. The cost of this program amounted to $13,884. Continuously improving the knowledge and skills of medical professionals is critical for the quality of treatment of children.
— $30,406 was allocated to the Foundation’s palliative care program. We help families with terminally ill children live in comfort and without pain. We organize consultations with doctors and psychologists, classes with rehabilitation therapists, provide medicines and necessary care items, and make dreams come true.
— $10,535 outpatient housing costs for non-local families in Kyiv and Lviv who have been discharged but still need frequent tests and procedures. Outpatient housing is an essential support for families who cannot afford to rent housing in the city where their child is receiving treatment.
— $16,408 was spent on psychological assistance for children and their families. Prolonged stress due to the war and the treatment of a child has its consequences: many families experience depression and anxiety. Professional psychologists help them cope with this.
— $25,855 was allocated to the Child Life program. Psycho-emotional support for children who spend many months in the hospital, cut off from their familiar surroundings and unable to do their favorite things, is another important area of the Foundation’s work. We organize holidays in oncology wards, ceremonial discharges, creative workshops, and give gifts to help children remain children despite the circumstances.
This month’s program expenses include one-time financial support for the Boop hospital clowning project, which has become a separate organization. Hospital clowns help children and their parents cope with stress and adapt to new hospital conditions.
— $19,389 was allocated for social support and rehabilitation after recovery. Two Tabletochki family rehabilitation camps were held in the Carpathians in the summer. The fight against cancer and the associated limitations, isolation, and severe medical procedures can have many consequences for a child and their loved ones even after recovery. The goal of camps is to work through psychological problems, gain new experience, and return to active life after a long and exhausting cancer treatment.
— $9,993 was spent on evacuation and support of families abroad. When the treatment a child needs is not available in Ukraine, we help them find it abroad, and later, if they need it and want to, we help families return home and continue their therapy here.
The Foundation’s expenses for raising funds to help children amounted to 10.3%, and administrative expenses amounted to 5.7%.
