Illia has allergies, so at first his constant nasal congestion was linked to that. But later doctors discovered a tumor in the boy’s nose.

For treatment, the family came to Kyiv from their home in Sumy Oblast. At Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, Illia is undergoing chemotherapy and preparing for the next stages of treatment — radiation therapy and surgery.

“During chemotherapy, he feels weak and barely eats. But after a few days, he slowly returns to his usual self and his mood improves,” says Illia’s mother, Maryna.

Some of Illia’s favorite moments at the hospital are his meetings with Betty, a specially trained therapy dog. Spending time with her helps children relax and distract themselves from medical procedures.

Thanks to your support, children like Illia receive not only the treatment they need, but also care and moments of joy along this difficult journey.
