Tabletochki joins the development of Europe-wide standards for psychosocial care in pediatric oncology

The Tabletochki Foundation has joined the international IMPACT-EU project, which develops European psychosocial care standards in pediatric oncology. Coordinated by SIOP Europe, IMPACT-EU unites 17 partners from 14 European countries, including hospitals, universities, and patient organizations. Tabletochki is the only representative from Ukraine.

The main goal of IMPACT-EU is to improve the quality of life and well-being of children and adolescents with cancer, as well as their families, siblings, and relatives, through comprehensive mental and psychosocial support.

Tabletochki CF, which consistently develops its own mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation programs, shares this goal. Working daily with families facing childhood cancer, we see how vulnerable they are and how essential support is at every level. This includes housing near hospitals, activities that help families feel less lonely and isolated during treatment, assistance in returning to everyday life afterward, and psychological support throughout the entire journey.

This is especially important now, as the challenges of fighting childhood cancer in Ukraine are compounded by the realities of war, creating an enormous psychological burden.

The project, co-funded by the European Union, will run for three years and include the following stages:

– Developing a Europe-wide standard for psychosocial care in pediatric oncology to ensure consistent, high-quality support across countries.

– Mapping psychosocial services across Europe, both within and outside hospitals, to identify available resources, best practices, and existing gaps.

– Providing training and implementation tools to strengthen the skills and capacity of professionals and peer supporters, delivering psychosocial care.

– Advocating for and providing policy recommendations for national adoption of psychosocial standards in Europe.

We are proud to contribute to meaningful change at the international level — so that every family facing childhood cancer does not have to go through it alone.
