At that time, the complex treatment gave its results: the girl was in remission for almost five years. However, shortly before the full-scale invasion began, the tumor started to grow again.
When Russia attacked, the family decided it would be safer outside the city and left their native Sumy for the countryside. However, they came under fire. They had to travel by field roads to continue the child’s treatment — the main were blocked.
Now, the girl is being treated in Lviv at the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center.
Unfortunately, removing the tumor is impossible because the operation threatens complete vision loss. Therefore, every week, the girl is in the hospital for chemotherapy. Meanwhile, she lives in outpatient housing, which the Foundation rents in Kyiv and Lviv for non-local families.
