The symptoms appeared unexpectedly in March 2025. It began with twitching in her hand, and the seizures quickly became more frequent and noticeable. Doctors performed an urgent examination that confirmed the tumor.
Varvara underwent surgery in Odesa and was referred for further treatment at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv. She is expected to undergo more than a year of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Varvara has three older sisters — ages 15, 14, and 2.5. The illness of the youngest child has become a serious challenge for the whole family.
“It’s a huge stress for everyone because the older children also need their mom 24/7,” says Varvara’s mother, Alyona.
