Last spring, the boy’s stomach suddenly began to grow because of a malignant tumor. Since May, the boy has been undergoing treatment at the Clinical Center for Pediatric Medicine in Lviv, where he has undergone surgery and more than ten sessions of chemotherapy.
Mykyta needed time to adjust to his new hairstyle (he lost his hair due to treatment). At first, the boy was shy, but later he even started to joke about it and gladly accepted compliments from adults.
His mother says that although it was difficult to accept the diagnosis, they needed to do so in order to pursue treatment and move forward. She and Mykyta came up with their own names for many procedures. For example, they call computed tomography a “donut” because the machine looks like one, and they refer to ultrasound as “slime” because of the slippery gel used during the procedure. These playful names help Mykyta cope better with the treatment.
To ensure that Mykyta and other children have everything they need for recovery, we need your help. Each donation brings the children closer to defeating the disease.
