Denys was planning on celebrating the end of his cancer treatment on February 25. Denys’s dad came to Kyiv a few days earlier to support his son on the day of discharge and take him and his wife home.
But there were no options for them to go home. The war broke out, and their hometown, Kherson, was occupied.
The family stayed in the hospital – to be safe, under the supervision of healthcare specialists. While Denys was getting stronger, his dad helped in every way in the hospital. In particular, he donated blood – because he knows well what it is like when children need transfusions.
Today the family is still in the hospital. Despite being optimistic and patriotic (Denys loves singing patriotic songs and plans to join school online in September), the road to full recovery is not easy for him. Recently he started treatment to fight opportunistic infection.
Children and their families especially need your support in such moments. Please help them by donating. So children like Denys will win!
